Enjoy Movie-Themed Drinks At Your Oscar Party
Invite your friends and family over to watch the Oscars with you and make sure you pull out all the stops. Prepare ballots so that you can make your picks and follow along with the awards show. Have a dress code and a red carpet so that your friends look as sharp as the stars walking into the event. Serve small appetizers to your guests on trays, like a stylish cocktail party.
With all of these steps, the only other aspect your party needs is some tasty, topical drinks. Use your frozen concoction maker to whip up these 2015 Oscar cocktails.
"Whiplash" is a Best Picture nominee about an obsessed music student obsessed and his intense instructor. Celebrate this critics' favorite with an equally great frozen whiskey cocktail. Here's what you'll need:
- Limeade concentrate
- Orange juice
- Simple syrup
- Ginger ale
Mix 6 ounces or 4 shots of whiskey with 4 ounces of orange juice, 4 ounces of lime concentrate, 3 ounces of ginger ale and a splash of simple syrup in your party machine's blender jar. Fill up the ice hopper and turn it on. Pour your Whiplash Whiskey into a glass and top with a cherry and two toothpicks for drumsticks.
The Grape Budapest Hotel
See if director Wes Anderson or his colorful, dark comedy "The Grand Budapest Hotel" win at the Oscars with this drink in your hand. Mix 1 cup of green grapes, 2 cups of lime sorbet or sherbet, 6 ounces of lemonade and 10 ounces of white wine in your frozen concoction maker's blender jar. Load it up with ice, turn it on and serve in a wine glass.
Consider garnishing this wine cocktail with a stem of grapes or something a bit more elaborate and colorful to mirror the movie. Use colored simple syrup to make your stemware tie-dyed before serving.
"Birdman" or (A Tropical Drink You Can Enjoy During the Show)
Alejandro G. Iñárritu's film is nominated in several categories, including Best Picture. It's been lauded for its long, unending shots, so why not make your guests a bottomless piña colada?
Combine 5 1/4 ounces of rum, 10 1/2 ounces of pineapple juice and 5 1/4 cream of coconut in your party machine. Make the measuring easier with a Margaritaville® No-Brainer Mixer, which lets you just fill to the line and go. Turn your machine on and serve to your guests. Then, keep them coming.
The Imitation Drink
Not all of your guests will want a strong cocktail. But just because someone doesn't want to drink alcohol doesn't mean he or she can't join in on the fun. Consider making a virgin margarita. Just replace the tequila with lime juice, grapefruit juice or a little extra orange juice. You'll have a tasty, frozen mocktail that even young guests can enjoy.
Your fellow Parrotheads at Margaritaville® Cargo remind you to enjoy your frozen concoctions responsibly and obey all drinking laws.
