Don't let the cold temperatures and nasty winter weather get you down this December. Instead, start planning a vacation to one of the best warm-weather winter destinations in the world.

1. San Juan, Puerto Rico
If you're looking for tropical spots in the U.S. this winter, don't forget to think outside just the 50 states. Travel + Leisure magazine ranked San Juan as one of the best winter getaways. Not only does this Puerto Rican capital have excellent weather, it's affordable and filled with plenty of great dining options.

The travel magazine ranked the city No. 1 in both street food and ethnic fare categories, so prepare to eat some authentic cuisine. Of course, Puerto Rico is also home to the piña colada. Prepare for your trip to this Caribbean island by blending up plenty of piña coladas in your Frozen Concoction Maker®.

2. Saint Maarten/St. Martin
Although Puerto Rico has a rich culture of it's own, it's still part of the U.S. To try somewhere nearby and truly foreign, visit Sint Maarten/St. Martin. The island is half Dutch, half French and 100 percent fun. Palm trees, great weather, white sand and crystal clear water are just a few reasons Condé Nast Traveler listed this as one of the best winter vacation destinations.

The French side of the island is well known for its excellent dining, while the Dutch side has excellent water sports.

3. Phu Quoc, Vietnam
Vietnam may not be the first place that pops into your head when you think tropical, but it's becoming an increasingly popular winter traveling destination for Americans. National Geographic pointed to the island of Phu Quoc as being one of the best winter vacation spots in the world, with temperatures between December and March ranging between 77 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Kauai, Hawaii
Both ABC News and U.S. News & World Report pointed to this Hawaiian Island as one of the best places to visit in the winter. While other parts of Hawaii have become saturated with tourists and resorts, Kauai has retained its tropical beauty and hotels are no taller than a tree, U.S. News explained. It's the perfect place if you're just looking to enjoy a frozen drink on the beach while watching the sunset.

5. Greek Isles
Enjoy the warm splendor of Greece's 227 islands, the Travel Channel suggested. While Greece might not be as toasty as some of the other places on this list, the Mediterranean region boasts some of the best beaches, sightseeing and nightlife in the world.

Remember to enjoy your beverages responsibly and follow all drinking laws - and don't forget to look out for your fellow Parrotheads too.
