Aperitifs are refreshing cocktails intended to cleanse the palate before dinner, and as such the recipes are relatively simple. And these little cocktails are especially divine when enjoyed out on the patio before sitting down to a meal.

Here are some recipes inspired by classic aperitifs to try:

Frozen Elderflower Martini
Elderflower has a delicate sweetness that blends wonderfully with vodka - experience this meeting of tastes with this smooth frozen martini.

Ingredients: 

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce elderflower liqueur
  • 1 ounce dry vermouth

Directions

The Frozen Rose 
Fragrant rosewater gives your standard gin and tonic a luxe makeover - soft and pretty, it's just the thing to sip on a spring evening. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces rosewater 
  • 2 ounces gin 
  • 3 ounces seltzer water
  • Spritz fresh lime juice

Directions

G & Tea 
In another twist on the gin and tonic, herbal tea is poured in for an extra dimension of sophisticated flavor.

  • 2 ounces gin 
  • 1 ounce club soda 
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • Lime wedge for garnish 

Directions

The Bold and Bitter
Bitters have been traditionally used in many aperitifs. In this recipe, curaçao, a liqueur made from bitter orange peel, is mixed with rum and a splash of pineapple juice for a tropics-inspired pre-dinner sipper.

  • 1 ounce curaçao liqueur 
  • 3 ounces rum 
  • 2 ounces pineapple juice
  • Orange slices for garnish 
  • Grated orange peel for garnish

  • 4 ounces seltzer water
  • Strawberry halves for garnish

Frozen Cucumber Gin Spritzer

To make the cucumber water, slice a cucumber, and then let the slices sit in a bowl of ice water for a few hours. Discard the cucumber slices before using the water.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces cucumber water
  • 2 ounces gin 
  • 4 ounces seltzer water
  • Twist fresh lemon juice
  • Cucumber spears for garnish 

Directions
