Imagine you're back in the 1950s, lying in a beach cabana. Surfers skim the waves while rock and roll songs are playing from the radio of a classic red-hot convertible. A smooth and delicious cocktail in your hand, you watch the crowd saunter down the boardwalk in retro-style swim trunks and flouncy maillots.

Even though you don't have a time machine, you can still go back to the golden days by making some old-school cocktails inspired by the beach life of the 1950s and '60s. Add a refreshing twist while embracing old-school nostalgia with these recipes for retro frozen concoctions:

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons bitters

Frozen Dry Martini
Martinis emerged after Prohibition and have since come to symbolize style, substance and class. They're frequently found in the hands of spies and starlets, and you can continue the tradition at home.

The standard martini is made with 4 parts gin compared to 1 part vermouth, while dry martinis ask for only the minimal amount of vermouth added. Add ice to the equation and what you get is a totally "dry" martini that is also deliciously refreshing. Like the most glamorous of the Hollywood stars of the '50s and '60s, the martini doesn't feel the need to impress - just two ingredients combine to pack a show-stopping punch.

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces gin
  • Splash of vermouth
  • Olives for garnish

Directions
Add ice to the reservoir and the gin and vermouth to your Margaritaville® Key West™ Frozen Concoction Maker®. Select the setting for three drinks, then flip up the Shave & Blend switch to mix the frozen concoction. Pour into martini glasses and garnish with a few olives skewered onto a toothpick.

Frozen G&T
Trends may come and go, but the gin and tonic is here to stay. A favorite back in the day that has stood the test of time, the light and refreshing gin and tonic has been the cocktail of choice for fun-loving beach-goers. Grab yours and let loose.
