Mint Juleps are a staple in the American South. Made with sugar, mint and bourbon, these icy cocktails are designed to be enjoyed while you're relaxing on the porch in the summer heat.
Update this classic concoction with a few tropical twists to blend a frozen drink any Parrothead is guaranteed to enjoy. Try making a Blackberry Julep Margarita at home in your Margaritaville® Key West™ Frozen Concoction Maker®.
Here's what you'll need:
- 4 1/2 ounces, or 3 shots, of bourbon
- 1 1/2 ounces blackberry liqueur
- 60 plucked mint leaves
- 1 1/2 cups blackberries
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
Take your fresh-picked or store-bought mint leaves and remove the stems, until you're left with about 60 leaves and nothing else. Add these leaves, along with the bourbon, liqueur, blackberries and sugar, to your party machine's blender jar. Fill up your ice reservoir, place the blender jar in its proper place, then flip the switch and watch your machine shave the ice and blend your cocktail.
Once it's the perfect consistency, pour into glasses and garnish with mint and blackberries. Whether it's a hot summer day or not, this colorful take on the mint julep is the perfect cocktail to relax with.
