Jump on the Whiskey Bandwagon with Your Party Machine
Irish whiskey, American bourbon, Canadian whisky and scotch have all grown in popularity in the U.S. in recent years. Whether it's hip young bars trying their hand at specialty drinks or more small-batch distilleries emerging on the market, some whiskey makers have struggled to keep up with the mounting demand.
If you stick mostly to relaxing tropical drinks and margaritas, your home bar is likely stocked with rum and tequila, not whiskey. Why not try jumping on this trend and using this liquor in your party machine for great frozen cocktails?
Frozen Whiskey Sour
A whiskey sour is one of the most classic cocktails, but you can use your frozen concoction maker to turn this staple into a frozen treat. Here's what you'll need:
- Orange juice concentrate
- Your party machine
Start off by filling your ice hopper, then pour in 2 cups of whiskey, 6 ounces of fresh-squeezed lime juice, 6 ounces of fresh squeezed lemon juice, 4 ounces of orange juice concentrate and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Turn on your machine and watch as it prepares your cocktail. Pour into a rocks or highball glass and garnish with a cherry and lime wedge. Top with seltzer if it's too strong or sour for your taste.
Slushier Mint Julep
The Southern drink is the perfect thing for a lazy, hot summer day when all you want to do is relax and beat the heat. A mint julep is made with a simple mix of Bourbon, sugar, fresh mint leaves and ice.
Unlike many drinks, the ice here is a critical component. As it melts, it waters the drink down and makes it weaker and tastier. The general rule is to get ice that's crushed, sometimes small enough so that you can sip it through a straw. So why not blend it? Mix your whiskey, sugar and a splash of water in your frozen concoction maker with ice. After you blend, put your fresh mint at the bottom of your glass, then pour the cocktail in. You'll be sipping your tasty slush all day long.
Whiskey and cola
Whiskey and cola is a popular drink at bars as well as at home. It's simple, tastes good and is strong. Why not switch it up with a slushie version for those hotter days?
Just mix three parts cola for every one part whiskey and lime juice you add. You know the rest: turn on the machine, watch the ingredients mix and make a tasty alcoholic treat. Garnish with plenty of lime. Consider flavoring your cola drink too, with a splash of vanilla or cherry.
